Jen Long

BBC Radio 1 Wales

Jen presents BBC Introducing in Wales every Sunday night on BBC Radio 1

New music journalist and DJ Jen Long lives for discovering and sharing new artists while still supporting her longer existing loves. She presents BBC Introducing in Wales every Sunday night on BBC Radio 1.

Jen Long started DJing with a weekly residency at Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach whilst running the student radio station, Xpress Radio. Over time she worked a number of jobs from tour managing bands to managing a rehearsal space while writing for a variety of magazines and websites.

Jen began working for Radio 1 in 2007 and presented her first show in 2008 at the age of 22. She became a fulltime presenter on the station at the start of 2011.

As well as presenting on the radio, Jen can be found covering the festivals on Channel 4’s Rockfeedback and writing for the pages of NME, Artrocker, TLOBF, and many more.

Jen also edits her own quarterly magazine, Zero Core and promotes gigs under the name flux=rad. As well as this, she has her own record label, Kissability, in partnership with Transgressive, and manages Welsh band Cut Ribbons.

Jen plays a mix of alternative indie, rock, dance, and pop, and her past DJ highlights include festivals like Latitude, Green Man, and Reading Festival. In 2012 Q Magazine named Jen one of the 30 most important young voices in music.
